Davidson et al. — Brain and Immune Function

A randomised trial of mindfulness training with EEG asymmetry and antibody response after influenza vaccine. Famous. Still not a consumer audio claim.

Davidson, Kabat-Zinn et al. (2003). Psychosom. Med. · PMID 12883106 · Shelf

Richard J. Davidson, Jon Kabat-Zinn, and colleagues reported alterations in brain and immune function after mindfulness training in a workplace randomised design, including antibody titers after flu vaccine.

Who, where, when

Wisconsin / UMASS mindfulness collaboration. PMID 12883106.

What the work actually did

Training versus control, EEG measures (including anterior asymmetry), immune outcome after vaccination. A bridge between contemplative practice and psychoneuroimmunology as it stood in 2003.

What it does not prove

Effect sizes, replication, and the jump from “workplace MBSR” to “beats boost immunity” are not licensed by this paper. Do not make that jump.

How to use this page

The paper is a reminder that trained attention has physiology. It is not a license for medical audio.

Editorial reading of published research. The official paper is authoritative. Not medical advice. Not a claim that consumer audio recreates a trial protocol.
