Stumbrys et al. — Induction of Lucid Dreams
Cognitive techniques, external stimulation, other methods — a systematic review of what has actually been tested to induce lucidity. Audio is one line in a table.
Tadas Stumbrys, Daniel Erlacher, Steffen Schädlich, and Michael Schredl review lucid-dream induction evidence. Mnemonic, reality-testing, and stimulation methods sit side by side. That is the map.
Who, where, when
Heidelberg / sleep laboratory tradition. PMID 22841958.
What the work actually did
Systematic review of induction techniques and the quality of evidence behind them. External stimulation (light, sound, vestibular) appears as a class, not as a guaranteed gadget.
What it does not prove
Reviews age. Later trials exist. Stimulation is not superior by default to cognitive methods, and consumer audio is rarely the exact stimulus in the table.
How to use this page
If lucidity is your aim, train the cognitive piece. Treat audio as optional scaffolding. Keep sleep safe.
Editorial reading of published research. The official paper is authoritative. Not medical advice. Not a claim that consumer audio recreates a trial protocol.
