Cheap headphones can carry a binaural beat if both drivers work and the path stays stereo. Expensive pads are comfort, not physics.

The failure mode of cheap cups is usually one dead side, a mono Bluetooth chip, or a fit so bad you raise volume. Fix those before you upgrade.
