DAC and Interface Basics

An external DAC is optional polish. It is not a spiritual upgrade and not required for a binaural pair.
A clean headphone output that stays stereo is the requirement. Most modern phones and laptops can do that with a decent dongle.
Chasing 32-bit / 384 kHz for a 200 Hz carrier is audiophile theater. The beat lives in a few hertz of difference, not in a marketing sample rate.
If you already own an interface, use it. If you do not, ENGAGE on the built-in jack or a known-stereo dongle and spend the money on sleep.
DAC and Interface Basics is a door, not a clinic. Optional gear. Sit with a true-stereo pair if the hour still wants one. Skip it if silence is the better instrument tonight.
