Acoustic Beats vs Binaural Beats

Acoustic beats mix in the air. Binaural beats mix in the head. Same family name, different machines.

Two tuning forks on a table produce a loudness wobble you can record with one microphone. That is an acoustic beat. One ear is enough.

A binaural beat needs both ears and isolation. Oster’s 1973 piece is still the public-science split: dichotic versus already-mixed. Headphones are not branding. They are the method.
