Best frequencies for studying
There is no single “magic” study frequency that works for everyone. Common design targets:
- Low beta / high alpha (~10–14 Hz) — engaged but not frantic attention; good default for reading notes
- Steady mid-beta (~14–18 Hz) — active problem-solving (may feel intense)
- Gentle alpha bookends (~9–11 Hz) — start/stop without a hard crash
Study block recipe
- Write one outcome for the next 25–50 minutes.
- Stereo headphones; volume you could almost ignore.
- Pick a target (or open the interactive studying page).
- Work until the timer ends; do not retune mid-block unless uncomfortable.
- Break without audio; optional second block.
More important than a number: one clear task, consistent length, and sleep the night before. Not ADHD treatment.
