Binaural beats for focus typically use a beat in the high-alpha to low-beta region (about 10–18 Hz) as a steady stereo companion for work. They may help some listeners settle into a task — they do not replace sleep, breaks, or clinical care for attention disorders.
Explain
Focus-oriented listening works best as a cue for a work block: headphones on, one task, timer set, volume comfortable. Higher beta can feel “wired” for some people; if so, step down toward alpha (~10 Hz).
Evidence posture: attention and memory studies exist; effects vary by person, task, and design. Do not treat consumer audio as ADHD treatment.
Single-task focus block
- Write one outcome for the next 25 minutes (not a whole project list).
- Headphones on → start ~12–14 Hz (or 10 Hz if you tense easily).
- Work until the timer ends; do not retune mid-block unless uncomfortable.
- Two-minute break without audio; then optional second block.
- Start with 15–25 minute blocks (Pomodoro-friendly).
- Use stereo headphones; mono/speakers collapse the binaural difference.
- Stop if you feel irritable or overstimulated.
