Choosing a Carrier Frequency

Carrier is the note you actually hear. Beat is the difference between ears. Comfort lives in the carrier; design intention lives in the beat.

A 100 Hz bed with an 8 Hz beat is a different hour than a 400 Hz bed with the same 8 Hz beat. The pulse rate matches. The timbre, fatigue, and how “present” the tone feels do not.

Oster already noted that binaural-beat perception is stronger at lower carriers and weakens as the tones climb. Piercing mid-high pure tones also tire ears faster on a forty-minute sit. That is craft, not mysticism.

This console prefers warm low-to-mid carriers for long programs. Climb when you want edge. If the pitch itself is the irritant, you are in the carrier, not the band label.

Choosing a Carrier Frequency is a door, not a clinic. Musical comfort vs beat design. Sit with a true-stereo pair if the hour still wants one. Skip it if silence is the better instrument tonight.
