Mono Compatibility and Binaural Beats

Mono compatibility is a virtue in broadcast. It is a kill switch for binaural beats.

A mix that “still works in mono” is a mix whose important information survives summing. A binaural pair is the opposite: its important information is the thing summing destroys.

Phone calls, some conference mics, some car adapters, and a surprising number of “wireless headphones” in cheap mode will fold the image. The track still plays. The beat does not.

If you share a session, say headphones and stereo. If you bounce a file for someone, bounce stereo and tell them not to play it on a kitchen speaker as a test of the method.

Mono Compatibility and Binaural Beats is a door, not a clinic. Why mono fails. Sit with a true-stereo pair if the hour still wants one. Skip it if silence is the better instrument tonight.
