Theta vs alpha waves
Answer
Theta (~4–8 Hz) is slower and often linked with deep relaxation or meditative drowsiness. Alpha (~8–12 Hz) sits higher and is often linked with calm, eyes-closed wakefulness. In binaural design, choosing between them is about the feel of the pulse and the session intent — not a clinical diagnosis.
Explain
- Prefer theta-oriented for formal meditation, body scans, pre-sleep borders.
- Prefer alpha-oriented for relaxed focus, reading, gentle wind-down while awake.
Some people feel theta as “floaty” and alpha as “clear quiet.” Your response is individual.
