Experiment: change the carrier frequency

Answer

Hypothesis: with a fixed beat, moving the carrier mainly changes the pitch height of the tones, while the pulse rate stays roughly the same.

Explain

  1. Headphones on, PLAY at carrier ~120 Hz.
  2. Raise carrier toward 250–300 Hz.
  3. Ask: did the pulse speed change, or mainly the pitch?

If the beat seems to change, check that you did not also move the beat control. Very low carriers can feel bassy; very high pure tones can feel sharp.
